Dr Nuria Sánchez Santos, Universidad Complutense Madrid, Spain

Nuria Sánchez Santos is PhD of the Meiofauna lab, Zoology department of the Universidad Complutense Madrid. Her research activities are focused on the Systematics, phylogeny and biology of the phylum Kinorhyncha. Since she started her research career, she has published 17 research papers, mostly based on the taxonomy of the group, describing more than 30 kinorhynch species around the world, including the erection of a new genus. In addition to the taxonomical works, she has been focused on the phylogeny of the group during last years. The studies were based on a total evidence analysis on the Pycnophyidae family, which yielded results to reject its traditional arrangement and proposes a new Systematics. In the area of education, she currently works as co-director of two Master Degree Projects (Master of Biology) and a Final Degree Project (Degree in Biology). Previously, she worked in teaching tasks in several subjects: Marine Zoology, Invertebrate Zoology and Zoology from the Complutense University Madrid.
